Aberdeen FC wins the 8th edition of the International U14 Tournament

The past weekend of August 18-19-20, we had the opportunity to enjoy the 8th edition of the International U14 Tournament at the Juliana Sportpark of FC 's-Gravenzande.

With 16 teams from 9 countries divided into 2 groups of 8, all teams played a total of 9 matches, including the placement matches on Sunday. The tournament is tough and demanding for the players, which is why the winner of the tournament is always a strong team.

The four semi-finalists emerged from the final round on Sunday morning, as the competition was very close. In Group A, Manchester United didn't manage to make it through. They finished 3rd based on goal difference, which wasn't enough for the semi-finals.

However, with Aberdeen, Atlanta United FC, Borussia Dortmund, and EC Laranja Mecanica, we had a superb semi-final lineup. With 3 teams that had never reached this stage before, the matches were a delight to watch. The matches were played in front of a large crowd.

In the end, Borussia Dortmund secured 3rd place by winning against EC Laranja Mecanica in the consolation final (3-1).

The final between Aberdeen and Atlanta United FC was a thrilling one. With a lot of intensity and passion, the approximately 1,500 spectators witnessed a great match. Unfortunately, no goals were scored during the match, so the outcome had to be decided by penalties. Santi Suarez missed the 3rd penalty, and as Atlanta United FC also missed their 4th penalty, Aberdeen became the proud winner of the 8th edition of the International U14 Tournament.

What's remarkable is that the list of winners now includes 8 different clubs. No team has managed to win the tournament twice.
